C-SPIN PIs Discuss the Progress, Promise, and Challenges of Spintronic Computing
(12/09/2014) - A new paper in Proceedings of the IEEE by five C-SPIN PIs and two of their graduate students can bring you up to speed on spintronics research. Briefly, the authors discuss 1) the history of spintronic research and its application to computer technology, 2) the advantages of spintronic logic and memory, and 3) the many challenges involved with realizing functional all-spin logic and memory. To the best of our knowledge, it's the most recent and most-in-depth review of spintronic computing research in the scientific literature. The paper appeared in the January 2015 print issue of Proceedings of the IEEE.
