In order to utilize magnetic tunnel junctions as a basic logic building block of spintronic logic circuits, integration of magnetic materials with a suitable spin channel must also be accomplished.

Theme 2 is aimed at investigating a wide range of spin channel materials, including semiconductors, topological insulators, and two-dimensional materials (such as monolayer MoS2 and graphene), and understanding their potential for use with perpendicular anisotropy magnetic materials.

The researchers in this theme are investigating the fundamental properties of spin transport in these materials, with the goal of indentify the most promising candidates for use in scaled spin-logic and memory devices.
