"Topological Spintronic Devices and Beyond" will be held on the Twin Cities Campus of the University of Minnesota. The University of Minnesota (UMN) is located in the Twin Cities, with its Minneapolis campus divided into East Bank and West Bank by the Mississippi River.
The workshop will be held in the Physics and Nanotechnology Building (PAN) on the east bank of the UMN campus. PAN is just a block from The Commons Hotel. Below is a map which includes the location of PAN, The Commons Hotel, and local restaurants, along with directions to East Bank from MSP International Airport and walking directions to PAN from the Courtyard Marriott on the west bank.
Transportation
Flights to Minneapolis should arrive at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP).It is recommended to take a taxi or the Light Rail from the MSP Airport to the University. Car rental is not necessary or even very practical for workshop participants. Parking is limited and expensive; buses and shuttles are readily available.
Taxi
A taxi to campus from the MSP International Airport takes around 20 minutes, but please plan for it to take 15 to 30 minutes longer if you will be traveling during rush hour (6:00am-9:00am CT & 3:00pm-6:30pm CT Monday through Friday). The cost for a taxi is approximately $40. Airport Taxi: 612-721-0000 Green and White: 612-522-2222 Red and White: 612-871-1600 Yellow: 612-824-4444
Light Rail
Additionally, Light Rail Service is available from the airport to the UMN campus. Light Rail is a less expensive alternative to taxi service. The trip between the airport and the University via the Light Rail takes about an hour. Plan to take the blue line from either terminal 1 or 2 to the Downtown East station. There you will need to make a transfer to the green line heading east to the UMN campus. Your final stop from the green line will be the East Bank station.
